The brutal Japanese treatment of Allied POWs in WW2 has been well documented.

The experiences of British, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, Netherlands and American POWs on the Burma Railway, in the mines of Formosa and in camps all across the Far East, were bad enough.

But the mistreatment of those used as human guinea pigs in medical experiments was in a whole different league all together.

The author reveals extremely distressing evidence of the activities of the secretive and now notorious Japanese Military Medical Group known by its unit designation as Unit 731.

These experiments involved horrendously disturbing atrocities perpetrated against mainly Military Members of all Allied Forces involved in the Pacific War and innocent and defenceless native populations such as in China.

The sites ranged from major battlefields like Singapore or New Guinea to as far away as Japan, Korea and the Chinese Mainland.

These resulting experimental treatments often resulted in extreme suffering and only ended with either the subjects death or if the experiment was declared a failure with their execution after they were deemed to be no longer of scientific use.

Perhaps equally shocking is the documentary evidence of British and Commonwealth Government's using the fruits of some of these results in their own post WWII experiments at locations like Porton Down.

The UK In concert with the USA, and often outright ignoring objections by others - Most notably Australia and the Netherlands - refused point blank to hand over captured members of Unit 731 to undergo War Crime Trails in 1946. A large majority of the scientists  serving in this unit were ultimately protected from increasingly angry war crime prosecuters, some of whom later resigned in disgust, as their vociferous demands that they be handed over to face justice were either outright ignored or lied to.

Instead in return for their cooperation, much as was d
